Day 15 The Traveling Tinkers
Desert Sanctuary in Benson, Arizona was our next stop after driving 292 miles. For those of you who may remember, Timothy Leary had this piece of property as his ashram, commune, etc, back in the day of LSD and free love. The new owner, refurbished the 140 acre property that had the original home, several out buildings and pottery area. It was atop a mountain overlooking the Rincon valley.
It was very peaceful, in addition to the great camping spot with water and electricity, there was a firepit, outdoor showers, a pool, a hot tub, game room with pool, big screen tv and extensive library. Rick, the current owner is in the process of selling and property and we were glad we got to enjoy this piece of heaven before then. When the sun went down over the mountain and the sky was dark, we were astonished at the stars. We sat out in our chairs looking at them and when time for bed, opened our sunroof so that we could continue to look up at them. It was so amazing. Again, Harvest Host, and HipCamp. Highly recommended. In a way, we hope he doesn't sell so that we can someday return.
Looks beautiful and very peaceful ❤️
