Day 19 The Traveling Tinkers
Have I mentioned how gorgeous the weather is in Arizona now? Every day is sunny with blue skies. We are loving it. Our adventures today took us to Cave Creek, Arizona. The town established as a gold mining town and a stopping point for the U.S. Cavalry in the mid 1870's, has preserved its wild west character. Most of the buildings are reminiscent of what things in the wild west looked like. It is located high above Phoenix, at the foothills of the Black Mountain. As with any area, it has been built up with restaurants, gift shops, hotels, specialty decor stores and a few championship golf courses.
After a stroll through the area, we visited "The 8th Wonder of the World" called the Rare Earth Gallery. I have never seen so many rare and unique gemstones.
Lunch was had a Harolds country restaurant.
Friday is all you can eat fish and chips, before we realized we didn't take a picture of the food, it was all eaten. Live music, interesting decor, and cowboy attire everywhere. We definitely looked like tourists.
At the end of the day we visited with my great niece Lin and her daughters Olivia and Darby.
Lin is an expert roller skater along with being a working mom. Magnolia is 10 and as you can see, is learning to play the violin.
Darby is 4 and was proud of the beautiful card she made for us.
I loved seeing them all and having them show off their various talents. My great nephew Ty stopped by but left before I could get a photo. He is a clothing designer. Beautiful family. Dave enjoyed a visit with Boris, the great dane!!
I finally caught up on your posts. I knew I should have followed you! I love the pictures but I especially like the stories of the people you meet.
