Day 23 - The Traveling Tinkers

We left Phoenix and drove 245.5 miles to Joshua Tree National Park. On our way to Joshua Tree we did take a brief side trip to Quartzsite, AZ.  That is where the Nomadland movie was filmed.  It is an area full of campers of all kinds, some great gem shops, and quartz everywhere.  I have a few pics here of the area where Hi Jolly is buried. He was from Syria, of the muslim faith and he helped the army in their efforts to have a camel brigade in the army.  There is an area dedicated to him.

Not much else to see there so we kept on going to our next stop.  We really had no idea what a Joshua tree looked like, but found a few to post here. It was a nice camp area for the tent, clean restrooms, but man the wind was crazy!!  We did great during the day, but when the sun went down it was very cold. We had hats, coats, mittens and gloves on. We packed up early and got out of that area to a lower elevation with less wind.  Our next stop would be Sequoia National Park.
