Day 29, 30, 31 The Traveling Tinkers - Glitch in the Trip!
As it goes....we had a slight glitch in the trip! Driving on Interstate 70 just outside of Salina, Utah, the Subaru decided to break down. It was getting dark, no internet signal, the onstar on the Subaru didn't work. Luckily I remembered I had a window shade for the front of the car that one side blocked the sun and the other side had the words, NEED HELP - CALL POLICE. We put it on the back of the car and within a matter of time, a Utah Highway Patrol officer showed up and said someone had called it in that we needed help. He was able to call a tow truck for us, and we then went to stay at a Super 8 Motel for the evening, as it was already late, dark, and almost midnight.
In the morning, after multiple calls to Subaru both in Worcester, and the Subaru Onstar people, we were advised that the tow would only be for 15 miles. That was unacceptable as the nearest Subaru Dealer was 120 miles away in Salt Lake City. We then called Subaru in Massachusetts who got involved, and we did get a tow to the dealer in Salt Lake City, along with the four of us and the dog. We were able to get a ride to Enterprise Rentals, we rented a 7 person van, repacked our stuff out of the Subaru into the van, determined we are not going to let this ruin our trip. We headed out, got a cabin for the evening at the KOA in Perry, Utah, got a good nights sleep and we are rested and ready to go.
We still have many photos to show you, but since you haven't heard from us in a few days, wanted to update. We are safe, we are happy, healthy, and moving forward.
Photos coming the next stop with internet.
So glad to hear you are ok! And you have a great adventure to add to the story!
