The Traveling Tinkers - Yellowstone
One of my favorite places on earth! I had already been there once and wanted to bring Sean and Steffie to go see this. Yellowstone is a mecca of bubbling pools of water, steam flowing from rocks, crystal clear blue pools, waterfalls, wildlife, geysers. The west side features more of the geothermal activity, and the northeast side has the Lamar valley with large prairies filled with buffalo, pronghorn antelope, elk, who were especially fond of the football field in West Gardiner.
On March 1, 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic wonders. People from around the world have been drawn to Yellowstone to witness these wonders for themselves. Now, millions of people come to Yellowstone each year.
There are 2,221,766 acres to this park. The park sits on top of an active volcano and is one of the worlds largest cauldrens 45 by 30 miles. There can be anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 earthquakes there annually. There is more than 10,000 hydrothermal features. More than 500 active gysers and 290 waterfalls.
